The Girl After watching the 100M butterfly, I am speechless!! Beating this putz by .01?? (I call him a putz since he thought it would be best for swimming if someone else won the race.) I agree with your assessment of Milorad Cavic being a putz. To add to why I feel he is nothing more than a putz is the fact that he and his coaches had to show their true colors in challenging the finish?! It's a freaking touch pad for crying out loud?! How could it be wrong??? Anyways, TRUE class was shown later in the meet when Dara Torres improbable run for gold also came up just one onehudreth of a second short. But she showed true class by congratulating her opponent instead of going straight to challenge the outcome... As a former swimmer, I have LOVED not only Phelps' performance, but all of the US swimmers as they have once again proven that US Swimming is the best in the world! And to prove that even more, just look at where a majority of the international swimmers that won medals train. Right here in the USofA! I wonder how NBC's ratings are going to fare now that Phelps' record setting performance is over. I'm sure they are going to take a serious hit, especially seeing as how bad the US Track team has been performing so far... At least the Dream Team is kicking some serious arse!!!

How could it be wrong??? I saw the finish and I thought it was wrong. They challenged it after watching it in person and I doubt that there was a single person in the Cube who thought that Phelps had won until the times came up. I would imagine that touch pads don't malfunction often but I'm sure they can and if I was the coach, I would have been very concerned that my swimmer's touchpad had not been triggered when he first touched the wall. The challenge was withdrawn when they saw the video, but I have to think that I don't want to see the video later, find out that my swimmer should have won except that it's too late to file a complaint. Also, it may be of interest that Cavic's coach is replacing Bob Bowman as Michigan's Swimming Coach, if my memory serves me correctly (otherwise, I would still agree with the call, but probably wouldn't go trough the effort of defending it ).
It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!
