OSU's helmet sucks unless you have the cute little stickers on them and then they still suck. It will be between Michigan and Texas. Notre Lame doesn't have a good helmet, it is just made with gold flakes so it's supposed to be great. I loved the Michigan-Texas Rose Bowl. 2 Classic uniforms with distiguished helmets. I don't ever recall think that when we play OSU or Notre Dame. It's more of the teams than their helmets that cool.

Yeah. That metalic green and yellow do look good together. I don't get why people hate modern style so much in football. Insecurity, i guess? I'm less of a man if I know what style is! I'm gonna go chop down some trees, and take a bath in motor oil. No one complains about the closer fitting jerseys with modern shape/fitting, but as soon as you add some design element - OH NO! We should go back to brown helmets and floppy rugby shirts if you ask me. That's tradition.

Much of what makes college football so great is tradition!

The schools that are rich in tradition have slightly modefied their look over the years. The teams that are trying to make a name for themselves have drastic changes in jerseys, helmets. See...Hawaii and Oregon and prime examples of that. The only difference between Michigan now and Michigan 40 years ago is better quality apperal.

small changes are one thing. Our new away jerseys, vs. an oregon jersey, or a west virgina jersey, or something along those lines is a huge difference. thats when you take good football tradition and turn it into a cartoon. Sure the teams are good.. but they're still ugly to look at.

I voted for Alabama only because I'm a big fan of the classic gray face masks. I like when the NFL teams like the Packers and Vikes sport the old grays on the throwbacks. BTW, the Lions need to go back to the blue. The blacks are lame.

Our clothing had...tradition! lol It's a shirt. I'm also glad we're not wearing traditional track shorts that were cool back when floppy mesh jerseys were. You want to go back to painted on numbers too, right?

Our clothing had...tradition! lol It's a shirt. I'm also glad we're not wearing traditional track shorts that were cool back when floppy mesh jerseys were. You want to go back to painted on numbers too, right? Give me a break. Talk about taking your arguments to extremes. There is a reason helmets, shoes and jerseys change. It's called technology. While Michigan's acutal helmets may be different today than they were 40 years ago, the wing desing ON the helmet remains virtually the same. Technology changes, but the tradition remains. While the jerseys Michigan wears may be tighter and more form fitting today than they were 40 years ago, they are still virtually the same in design. Once again, technology changes but tradition remains. You seem to have a problem differentiating between the two based on your argument... Why don't you just go look at just about every team with more than an ounce of tradition from any sport. Baseball has the Yankees and BoSox whose uniform designs have basically been unchanged over the decades. The NFL has the Cowboys, Packers, Browns and Bears to name a few as further examples. College football has too many to list. On the flip side there are also numerous programs that I could give two flips about like Oregon that throw tradition to the wind when it comes to their uniforms. Those are the types of uniform design I can do without and that is why I am thankful I am a fan of a team like Michigan where I'm hopeful I won't have to worry about seeing Oregon-like designs on a Michigan uniform for a loooong time!

Oregon is more interested in sales than anything. It's the same reasoning behind 3rd jerseys, or "Sunday" jerseys in sports. Just another marketing ploy. They have more color combinations than a teenage girl.

EMUwolverine20 I agree. I hate the glitter helements, the glitter has no purpose. Especially virginia techs. They have gold glitter. Gold isn't part of their colors. Its retarded. I also agree that it will be a highway robbery if we don't win. Michigan has by far the best helements in the nation. Notre Dame's has gold flaking because of the Golden Dome. I'm not defending their helmets or sayin that they are the best. I only know this cause I live 5 miles from ND. :(

ASU (and I went there) has THE ugliest shade of baby crap on their helmet. It's awful. I've said for many years, they should have more of a Florida State color scheme going.

section43row50 every helmet i have picked has lost. You picked New Mexico over Alabama??? The only helmet I picked that lost so far is Penn State. BTW, Michigan won by the largest margin to date: 68% to 32%. Alabama had the previous largest margin of victory at 67% to 33% over NM. Tomorrow's clash between ND and Texas is arguably the toughest 1st round matchup. I'm voting for Texas, although I'm sure that all of the bandwagon Domer fans will vote the Irish through...

We're going to keep running circles here, but if you think the revolution designed helmets, yearly changed shoes, embroidered letterings rather than painted, and tighter materials and form jerseys is "technology", you should see the stop watch!

I agree our bracket is pretty loaded, but we should still win this thing. As far as the tradition argument going on here... Yes, the revolution helmets and form jerseys are technology. Read up on them. The helmets reduce concussions and the jerseys allow players to stay cooler while playing. Maybe I have no fashion sense, but I think Oregon looks ridiculous. I don't think you have to be Penn St plain to look good, but Oregon looks like they should be playing in Canada or soemthing.
