He wants to come back on a competitive team.  Meaning, a team that has a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl.  Minnesota is one of the few, in my mind, that is missing a QB that can take them there.

Anyone who thinks GB will release him to a division rival is insane, or even a NFC team.

Plus the Iron Hillbilly would never even play for another team, it is GB or nothing.

Personally, I hope he does start for GB, it guarantees Da Bears at least 2 wins this year.

Predictable, annoying, yet the end result will be very interesting.

No way are the Packers about to release Favre, nor are they going to trade him to a division rival. They would be crazy to let him go to a team in their division.

If the Packers don't trade or release him in a couple days, he should just show up one morning at camp and run out onto the field to stretch. Rogers would probably have a brown stain in his pants....

The only way I see Favre being a starter is if a team's regular QB going down with an injury.

Green Bay isn't about to bring Favre back as the starter.  It appears they are set with Rogers.

Favre has the Packers by the balls.  The Packers have no leverage in this situation (they've created) and are now asking teams for a 4th or 5th round pick in the draft.

Can you imagine what will happen if the Packers trade Favre for a 5th round pick and then Aaron Rodgers falls flat on his face....Oh mama, it won't be pretty in Greeen Bay....

What would the Vikes give to a team who sent GB a 5th rounder? Are there rules against that?

I can just imagine Gruden's face. Spending a 5th rounder, getting Farve, and trading him for a 2nd rounder!

I'll take $20 million to stay retired, Alex.

Favre can't take this deal.  He'd look like a whore.  He's said all along that he still wanted to play, GB is trying to pay him to shut his mouth.   If he takes the money he looks even worse than he does from jacking them around about retirement.

He confirmed that he's not taking the money and will probably report either Saturday or Sunday if he's not traded.

I still cannot believe the Packers offered to pay him $20M over 10 years to go away.  Unbelievable.

True, but $20 mil is alot of cash to walk away from, whore or not.  He could set up his family for generations to come.  But, $20 mil to him might seem like $100 to you and me.

Re: RE: Favre - Sunday, August 03, 2008 2:13 PM
Apparently, the $20M deal has been on the table since June.  The Packers look more and more stupid every day this goes.

Well, as of Sunday afternoon Favre has been re-instated by the NFL and is flying to Green Bay later this evening.  He'll be taking a physical and on the field Monday.

He has said all along that he wanted to play, well, looks like he's gonna get his shot.

It's a lot of cash, but hopefully he's already put away enough to set his family up for a few generations.

GB looks like a joke in all of this.  BF may be a pain in the rear but he's probably better off moving on.  If AR gets hurt GB will be hosed...

Rodgers was 7-20 with an INT in the endzone during their scrimmage last night.  He got booed off the field.

Re: RE: Favre - Friday, August 08, 2008 4:37 PM
what a crazy deal. Lots of twists and turns to it. I like the clause in the trade that if the Jets traded Farve to the Vikings, the Packers would receive 3 first rounders from the Jets.

I'm glad Farve went to the Jets of all places though. Much rather see him there, even though he hurt his legacy a bit, but it would've been real bad if he went to the Vikings. I've always liked Farve even though I'm a Lions fan.

Clemons was just thinking he might've been the starter, now he's probably demanding a trade since Farve will never leave/quit.
