Throwing my Michigan fandom aside for a second....

VA Tech could be trouble in the SR.  They probably have the best pitcher in the nation so the bats should be ready.  Then again.... Tincher might have been the second best pitcher behind Abbott last year and they couldn't get out of the regionals!  I'd much rather Tennessee *upset* the hokies just to be on the safe side.  Michigan has had their off days on offense but that wouldn't be a worry with Rhodes and the rest of the Vols pitching.

I'm not sold on Florida at the highest (WCWS) level yet.  Mchigan has a decent WS draw.  I predicted before the season that ASU would win it all and am not backing off that.  But.... let's just say that I am glad that Michigan wouldn't face them or UCLA until DEEP into WCWS play   Why?  Because those two Pac 10 teams are my final two right now.  But should Michigan and aTm meet up and should the wolverines beat them.... I may have to change that

I agree. While I do admit that I have not seen/heard about Tennessee this year, Tincher has been all over the news. The question is, if she is so good, why aren't the Hokies a national seed? Offensive woes?

I'll be keeping track of the Knoxville Regional this weekend as well. Should be an exciting one!

I work with the mother of ND's pitcher, Brittney Barger. I too wished her luck, but told her I could never root for ND in any sport over Michigan! I think she understood.

Notre Dame beat Kent State, 10-1, in six innings today.

Irish third baseman Linda Kohan led the way with 4 RBIs. ND pitcher Brittney Bargar threw a no-hitter - the lone Flash run was in the first inning when a series of walks and a sacrifice groundout brought a run home.

You'd never know from a 13-5 run rule win that Michigan started out struggling in this game. Wright State's lead off hitter knocked the first pitch of the game out of the park, and it didn't look good for Nemitz. Hutch pulled her in the 3rd with no outs and bases loaded. Taylor couldn't get out of trouble until the inning ended with Wright State up 4-0.

Wright State was up 5-3 in the 5th before Michigan went on a tear and hit two grand slams (Powers, pinch-hitting, and Viefhaus), a ten run inning in all to end the game.

Pitching was definitely surprising. Even if Nemitz struggles, JT usually comes in and doesn't have a problem. This has me a little worried for ND tomorrow, but then again we are in the NCAA Tournament. And the only things that matter in the NCAA Tournament are W's.

Marley. Powers. Is. Amazing.

Following her grand slam in last night's win, Powers blasted a three run homerun in the top of the fourth for a 3-0 Wolverine lead.

Teddi Ewing then singled and Alessandra Giampaolo brought her home with an RBI triple.

4-0 Michigan.

Irish appear to be heading to the "Loser"'s bracket at the end of the 5th ending after the diving catch by Bausher!  That had to hurt!

Kent State beats Wright State 3-2.

Notre Dame plays Kent State in a few to deterine who plays Michigan tomorrow.  Kent State dominated the MAC, I was surprised to see them lose badly in the opener against Notre Dame.

As in the game with Michigan, it only takes one bad inning in College Softball to be eliminated.  Hope the Wolverines can use this lesson as they continue on in the Tournament.

Wow, looking at the play by play, that ND/KS match-up was a really good game. I'm sorry I didn't come back to the stadium for the later games. Both teams matched or went up a score each time the other scored in an inning.

I wish the format was set up to have the next game start 20-30 minutes after the last instead of specific start times. There was at least an hour gap after Michigan/Notre Dame until Wright State/Kent State. It's a long time to have home fans sitting around for a game they may not be invested in.

In the opposing S.R. side of the bracket, Virginia Tech is on the winner's side, and Tennessee is on the loser's. They play at 1:30.

It's pretty much gone as expected, with Tennessee and Virginia Tech meeting in the regional final today. In the two teams' first meeting, one pitch made the difference as Hokie Caroline Stoll jacked a grand slam in an otherwise scoreless ball game. It's nearly impossible to get to Tincher, as she hasn't allowed a run in four games. She has also combined for 33 strikeouts in the two games that the Hokies have played, including 19 of which against Louisville in their first game.

I'd MUCH rather get Tennessee, but the Vols would have to win two today in order to do so. AND, of course, we have to take care of Kent State today.

Rocky Top!

We are the champion! Dorian Shaw's sixth inning grand slam ensured victory for the Wolverines, as Michigan took down Kent State, 5-0.

Wow. Angela Tincher got roughed up today, giving up four runs and three walks in just 1.1 innings of work.

Tennessee is leading Virginia Tech, 5-0, in the 5th inning.

Tincher probably went off on her team WWE style in the lockerroom during the break.

I just had a nice long chat with the mother of Brittney Barger, ND's pitcher. She could not say enough nice things about Ann Arbor, the fans, and the facilities. She had a great time, despite being sad that their season is over.
