Who Should Be Our New Punt Returner?
-
Sunday, September 07, 2008 5:16 PM
With D. Warren struggling to make anything out of his returns, I'm not alone in thinking we should try someone else out. I think Boo Boo and Odoms would both make very effective returners. How about you guys?

I vote for Cissoko just for the speed factor.

Odoms would be my first choice. He has shown great agility, to go along with a surprising ability to break tackles. Brandon Harrison was pretty good on kick returns, so he would be my #2.

I vote for whomever will run north/south versus east/west!!

One of the things I haven't seen mentioned here... We have done a very poor job of setting up returns, 9 times out of 10, Warren is catching the football with someone already breathing down his neck. Now then, I do agree that he has been hesitant on his few opportunities to actually do something with the football, but I think it's a disservice to not mention the fact that we haven't done a solid job of blocking on our punt returns so far. If we were going to change, I really liked the way Cissoko attacked on his few opportunities Saturday.

I voted for Boo Boo, but I'm really not comfortable with letting a true freshman return punts for the first time in South Bend, probably the stadium where the weirdest things always seem to happen to us.

Cissoko
The division between the Rich Rod supporters and the Rich Rod bashers/Carr supporters is amazing and has turned this place upside down.

Will Donovan Warren be back returning kicks?... RR "Yeah,Donovan, and we are almost ready to have a rotation with MartaviousOdoms back there as well. We may even give Boubacar (Cissoko) a lookback there as well. Martavious and Donovan are going to be in therotation. We just kept Donovan out there because of the experience.Martavious will probably take some reps as well." http://mgoblue.com/football/article.aspx?id=145858

The writing has been on the wall, and clearly RR can read. He is commited to one thing... winning football games. He will be sure that he finds the best player to line up in each position.

How about we let D War return a few kicks from someone who doesn't have a freaking bionic leg? He's faced two punters with incredible legs, booting the heck outta the ball and hanging it up there for the coverage to get downfield. If he gets a second to look at the field and see whats coming at him instead of running back10-20 yds to field the kick, then he might be able to do something with it.
