WVU w/o Rich Rod. - Sunday, September 07, 2008 1:31 PM
Did anybody catch the WVU vs East Carolina Pirates game on Saturday?? Wow tallk about an upset.  I personally watched the entire game, and I guarantee one thing, their fans wished they had RR at the helm in that game.  They looked totally overwhelmed, and unprepared for battle.  I guarantee RR team would not have looked like that, especially with White at the helm still. Bill Stewart looked absolutely lost durring the second half, he has no idea what he is doing! lol I know this has not too much to do with Michigan football, but dam if we don't have something to hang over WVU fans head now, for years to come. They didn't just lose by a point, they were absolutely DOMINATED, in every aspect of the game for all four quarters of play.. It was not even a contest!!  So next time any WVU fan gives u a hard time, just ask them about ECU!!! LOL

Unrelated, does anybody think ECU should be ranked in top 25 polls this week. They only beat a #17 VT at home, and a #8WVU dominating performace to open the season.

I'd be suprised if ECU wasn't ranked, after all, they do have the best record right now (meaning their 2-0 is better than other 2-0's since they beat 2 top 20 teams)

They should be top 10. The rankings should reflect what you have done on the field, not the talent and potential you have. And can someone explain how WV is still ranked? I'm actually surprised that ND isn't ranked. I was thinking the writers would be gushing about how they overcame adversity and beat a tough Southern California team.

ECU looks like a good football team that is playing with a lot of confidence right now.  I definitely think they should be in the top 25 this week.

I bet WVU fans wish they had RR as their coach when they played a 4-7 Pitt team at home last year.  Oh wait....they did.

I tell ya what Skip Holtz has that team believing right now. I wouldn't want to play them.

I found this interesting:
West Virginia hired the wrong coach. I've always been a proponent of patience when it comes to evaluating coaches, so no, I'm not going to slam the door on Bill Stewartthree games into his head-coaching career. But events of the past weekindicate that WVU had the opportunity to hire one of the hottest headcoaches in the country -- and blew it.Three weeks into a frenetic and disorganized search to find RichRodriguez's replacement, WVU retained the services of noted consultant Chuck Neinas. As described last week by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, members of the school's search committee spent the morning of theMountaineers' Fiesta Bowl game making initial contact with one of theinterested candidates identified by Neinas -- only to hand the job toStewart after the Mountaineers upset Oklahoma.
The spurned candidate who never got that call: East Carolina's Skip Holtz, the same man whose team unleashed a 24-3 upset of the Mountaineers onSaturday and who will most likely be standing on the sideline of somelucky BCS-conference school this time next year.

You thing Holtz might have been a little more motivated to show what WVU missed out on?

I wasn't rooting against WVU until I went to a sports bar and watched the UM-Utah game while WVU was playing Villanova.  There was a large WVU contingent and they were all rooting vehemently against UM.
I know that they are scorned for losing RR.  I don't know if it was the shear number of people or that anyone dare root against my team, but it made me a huge fan of ECU and any other opponent of WVU.  Go Colorado, Marshal, Rutgers, etc.!
