Yeah, that's pretty close. I can't tell for sure from the photos I saw whether the numbers are screened or stitched. Also the *body* of the jersey looked to be more of a mesh than the form fitting stretch material of the Nikes. I still need to see them in action but they're growing on me. And I definitely like the away jerseys more than the ones that are top of this thread.

That's a pretty nice photoshop there. The block "M" on the shoulder is actually a nice compliment to the helmet. Now this maize stripe with another block "M" confuses me, what's the point in it?

If they look like the photoshop version then I will be happy. I think the M's will grow on me fast.

The block M addition to the home jerseys doesn't sound or look like it'll be a bad look. I'm actually kind of digging it.

from the description of the home jerseys and those pictures posted, it doesnt seem like they'll be bad at all. I'll wait and see what the away jerseys look like.

ORIGINAL: gobluefan2457 If this is what I'm gathering from the info, I love it. Let us know. If this is the general idea, I kind of dig them. When I first read Phil's description, I had the image of the Block M's further up on the shoulder like that photo of Breaston. My fears have been relieved somewhat if they will look more like the image above. Phil, Do the away jerseys have the Block M on the shoulder as well?

We have arguably the best home uniforms in all of sports, they don't need to be tweaked at all. Adidas has contracts with ND, UCLA, Tenn, Wisc, among others, and their jerseys are pretty much the same as they have always been.

I'd hardly call replacing the number on the sleeve with a Block M as messing with the jersey on the whole. If they were to put maize piping all around it and stripes down the side or something like that, then you would have an argument. And my guess is, if the majority aren't happy with the changes, adidas will revert back to the old style. If you recall, adidas made some tweaks to ND's unis initially that weren't well received by the majority and the next season, they switched back to the more traditional style of ND unis. My guess would be that adidas would do the same thing in this instance.

What about names on the back? Any chance they take them off for "team concpet"?

It's just an annoyance. It seems like they are making changes just for the sake of change rather than fixing something that is really out of order.

I found this post on Rivals from a reply that someone got from Bill Martin's office (from Dave) From: Dave Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 9:31 PM To: Chris Subject: Michigan Football Uniforms Chris, Thanks for your interest and passion for the University of Michigan football program. The home uniform has not changed with the exception of the logo and the away uniform has been modified slightly in comparison to the Nike design that has been worn the past few seasons. The uniforms were approved last fall and have been in production well in advance of the hiring of Coach Rich Rodriguez. He was not involved and linking the design with West Virginia or him is inaccurate and unfair to do. The team's road uniform has been tweaked on numerous occasions throughout the years and this slightly modified design is no different. We appreciate your input and feedback. I hope you are excited about the upcoming season and like the uniforms once you see them this fall. Dave If you are interested, here's a little history on our uniforms throughout the years: 1879 White canvas with blue stockings and a belt 1897 Canvas and blue jerseys worn 1912 All blue jerseys with no canvas introduced 1915 Numbers are added to the jerseys 1928 Yellow jersey with blue numbers worn vs. Navy 1938 Fritz Crisler brings the winged helmet to Michigan 1949 White jersey with blue numbers worn vs. Northwestern 1959-68 White numbers added on sides of winged helmet 1968 Block 'M' added on sleeve of home jerseys for one season 1969 Numbers added to the sleeve of the jersey during Bo Schembechler's first season 1974-75 White pants worn on the road 1976 Numerals taken off the sleeve and put on the shoulder of the away jerseys 1980 Names added to the back of jerseys 1994 Michigan enters into agreement with Nike as official apparel supplier 1997 Home jerseys have Block 'M' hologram on the shoulder 1997-2004 Away jerseys have Block 'M' added to sleeve and numbers displayed on shoulder

But wait, I thought RR was destroying Michigan tradition one at a time? If the new jerseys are unsatisfactory, then dammit it HAS to be his fault!! I kid, I kid. Hopefully that email will ease some minds.

So, basically, according to this e-mail; the jerseys won't be the images that Phil saw since no real mention of the block M's on the shoulders was ever talked about. All of this is so confusing. I just wish they'd release the damn pictures or something of them; so, we all know.
