Saturday's ABC/ESPN2 Schedule?
-
Thursday, August 28, 2008 10:43 AM
I've been trying to figure out 1. if the game will be on out on the west coast, and 2. what channel. The 12:30 (PST) slot doesn't list the teams that will be playing. Am I right in assuming that ABC will carry the game in the Michigan area and ESPN2 will cover it while ABC shows a crappy Pac10 game out here?

OC- You and me are stuck together on this one. I'm almost positive ABC will carry USC-Virginia here. I believe that game has the same 12:30 start time as Michigan. I'm assuming ESPN2 will then carry Michigan. Can anyone out there confirm this? I went through this same crap last year, never knowing because the guide never tells you the game they'll be carrying. But it worked out somehow as I can recall seeing Michigan just about every game with the exception of maybe 2, which I watched at my bro's house since he has DirecTV.

I was looking on TVGuide.com this morning (what ever happened to the ABC Coverage map...) and it showed ABC as TBD and then ESPN2 as USC/VA -or- MICH/UTAH... I have both channels in HD, so I'm happy to see ESPN2 will have the other game :) edit: http://www.hdsportsguide.com/news/2008/august-30th-abcespn-college-football-coverage-maps/ (special thanks to BestFightSong10 in another thread)

I have had good luck with this link: http://www.excite.com/tv/data.jsp?f=1. Just enter your zip code and select you cable/dish provider. I entered an LA zip code and it showed the USC game on ABC but I did not see a listing for ESPN2.

The_Michigan_Man So, if its not on one, NO MATTER WHERE YOUR AT IT WILL BE ON THE OTHER?! This is the big question and nobody seems to know. Why does it have to be so difficult to find out what the hell game is being shown? Last year it always seemed to work out-Michigan was either on ABC (usually the 9:30am PST starts) or on ESPN2. I hate to assume the same for this year. Argh!!! I'm getting frustrated.

The_Michigan_Man So, if its not on one, NO MATTER WHERE YOUR AT IT WILL BE ON THE OTHER?! Yes, that's how it works. If you have DirecTV or Dish Network you may need to find out what your ESPN alternate channels are incase you're getting the USC game on ABC. Interesting note, due to the MSU game this week being prime time and away, you'll need GamePlan to get this game if you're outside of the coverage areas.

Thanks Terry-you're the guru of this stuff! :) My question still stands: why can we not get the programming information ahead of time? I have TW and you have to wait until kick-off to find who their showing. I just don't get it.

Because guide data is generally nationwide and coverage maps didn't come out until either late yesterday or this morning. It's too late really to have exact guide data so they keep it simple. Here's what to look at to tell what you're getting. If you're in blue the Michigan game is on ABC and the USC game on ESPN2 (or maybe an alternet ESPN2 channel for DBS). If you're in yellow you'll see the USC game on ABC with the Michigan game on ESPN2 (or maybe an alternate ESPN2 channel for DBS).

I noticed it on the guide last night that here in LA ABC already says USC/VA and ESPN2 says TBA. My assumption was that ABCLA is local so when they turn in their scheduling in they know USC will be on. ESPN is national so they turn theirs in TBA as it all goes to one main system. We're in good shape tho!

Let's get it on....
The division between the Rich Rod supporters and the Rich Rod bashers/Carr supporters is amazing and has turned this place upside down.
