To me this seems like a political ploy aimed at the uninformed. You can't win an occupation, can you? Do you agree with his stance in the VA benefits that he voted against?

I think when he talks about winning, its not football. You cant win a war like you did back in WW2...I think that most people could see that and know what he meant. We are winning, in my opinion, the "battle" of Iraq which is part of the whole "war" on terror. Yes McCain voted against VA benefits, but not because of the benefits. If you actually look at the bill that got passed, there was A LOT of special interest money involved with getting certain people to vote. A vote against this bill, as they see it, would be a political nightmare, so if we throw this in it, or that in it (special interest) there is no WAY no one could vote against it. McCain has said time and time again thats why he didnt want that "version" of the bill passed, and voted against it. He is in no way AGAINST VA benefits, or our military. He stands behind them knowing what they are going through better then almost anyone in politics today (I said ALMOST anyone. I know there are a few in there, so no one take this out of context.)

TK23Blue mgobob Subject: Obama for President? > After months of searching the entire United States for a candidate for President > and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, hours upon hours of debate, a very > expensive National Convention, the Democratic Party presented us with the very > best candidate they could find, and listed below are his qualifications. > > > > > 2008 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE > > > > > QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW Congress Millitary > > 143 days 0 > End of Review > > Vote with your brain and not with your emotions! Which is exactly why I would vote for him, because 'qualifications' have been so helpful to us. I mean, look at our guy now. He was a governor so that's good. He ran a baseball team into the ground as well as Arbusto (perfect name) Energy, Spectrum 7, and Harken Energy. Ok, so he couldn't run a company. Doesn't mean he can't run a country does it? Besides, he was the head cheerleader at Phillips Academy. That has to count for something. Yeah, ok. So he scored the lowest possible grade on the pilot's acceptance exam for the Texas Air National Guard and had a few problems with drunk driving and cocaine. So what? He's more than qualified to run this country. He must be-he got "voted" in twice. Ok, so he ran this country into the ditch just like everything else he's touched. Give the guy a break. McCain has been around a long time. Possibly longer than dirt itself. Not sure if he'll make it 4 years but replacements are easy to find. During his hundred years in the 'biz', he's had plenty of time to develop strong ties to The Secret Handshake Club, special interest groups, dirty deeds done dirt cheap, back door deals, and all those other "qualifications" that are necessary to run a country...further into the weeds. He's even managed to befriend the Democratic party and ride the fence to bag some easy votes by ripping his President. (That same president that now has imprints of McCain's lips on his backside.) Yep, that's my guy. And once he decides on a platform and figures out what he wants to be when he grows up, I'll consider voting for him. Why do you even participate in these discussions? You've been a Bush basher ever since I read your first post. Now your a McCain basher. Your mind is, has been and always will be made up toward the very liberal agenda. You're a very bright guy and, thus, I'll never understand your political leanings. Frankly, I like George Bush and get tired of seeing you slam him every chance you get. If nothing else, as Dennis Miller says, he's kept our asses from being blown to smithereens the last 7 years and maybe that's all we should expect from a president. I know you must get your facts from leftist writers or blogs.. Bush received his wings to fly multi-million dollar military aircraft. Did you ever get your wings? Bush has an MBA from Harvard. Do you? He ran the Texas Rangers into the ground? Whenever were they off the ground? Has he been perfect? Far from it. He's spent too much money by allowing all the pork being written into bills he should have vetoed. He's been too soft on illegal immigration. There has been no hint of personal scandal in his presidency. Trust me, history will be much kinder to W. I'm old enough to remember the Truman presidency and virtually no one could stand him and couldn't wait to see him leave office. For the last 10-15 years he's been regarded as a great president. Btw, why do you keep saying he's run this country into the ground? Please explain. We've had a pretty darn good economy until this current recession and we are winning the war in Iraq. OK, blast away. I'm sure this will make your day. I may ignore your rantings as I swore to do a year ago or so. :)

[id=tmppasteie1219242475428][id=tmppasteie1219244158298]Sorry Winged. When facts aren’t handy baseless assumptions become the order of the day? In order: 1.The “Bush Bashing” (as you call it) is always and strictly a proportionate response to the Obama Bashing that has continually gone on here and from one particular poster. When a pile of innuendo, non-facts and false accusations get rolled out (do yourself a favor and go back and read this thread from the start) I jump in. You guys want to dish it out but you can’t take it, is that it? 2. When you’re a box and you have sides I know it’s difficult to see the other side so I just try and point out a few facts for you. I know, a colossal waste of time and frankly I couldn’t care less what you think or how you vote. I’m an independent. Actually a moderate independent. Of course, a party doesn’t exist for me so that leaves me having to choose between republican and democrat. Not always a bad thing, until lately. I liked the way Bush Sr. handled things in the Gulf War, I liked the economy under Clinton, and on and on. Sorry if I’ve liked nothing under Bush Jr. I don’t like paying 5.00 a gallon for gas, having a housing market crash on top of my head, the highest unemployment percentage we’ve seen in forever, running the highest national debt in the history of our country, and list goes on and on. This would be the “running the country into the ground” part. Do you think this is just happenstance or a fluke and Bush has nothing to do with this? Yep, no accountability, no responsibility. Pretty typical day at the office, huh? Sorry if being an American and questioning your leaders is a problem for you. It’s not for me. 3. I know you must get your facts from leftist writers or blogs.. Bush received his wings to fly multi-million dollar military aircraft. Did you ever get your wings? Bush has an MBA from Harvard. Do you? He ran the Texas Rangers into the ground? Whenever were they off the ground? The answer is no, no, no and no. But guess what? I’m not the President am I? (I also didn’t have the golden spoon in my mouth and have everything handed to me from my dad, but hey, whatever works for you.) 4. Btw, why do you keep saying he's run this country into the ground? Please explain. We've had a pretty darn good economy until this current recession and we are winning the war in Iraq. Now see that? Just when they started calling it a war, the republicans call it an occupation. Then, when we start calling it an occupation, you call it a war. Which is it? Do you even know? And please, you’ll have to explain exactly what it is we’re winning. 5. And this is a big one. If you don’t like what you’re reading here, don’t come here. See how easy that is? But if you do decide to come here, know one thing: Don’t expect to throw rocks and not have a few thrown back at you.

Pretty typical day at the office, huh? Sorry if being an American and questioning your leaders is a problem for you. It’s not for me. Please. The president gets way too much credit for the economy and way too much blame when it is bad. I don't like paying $3.65 (we're poor here in Ohio) for gas either. But, have you ever heard of supply and demand? WHY is this Bush's fault? Why do the Dems still resist off-shore drilling? I think you better check your figures about highest unemployment % ever! The housing market was caused by greed. Greed from the banks and their ancillaries and borrowers (don't you think people should take a little responsibility for their OWN actions?) I've already addressed Bush running up the national debt by not vetoing pork-laden bills. 3. I know you must get your facts from leftist writers or blogs.. The problem is that we don't change each other's minds. You're a kind of guy I would enjoy having a beer with and you do a great job on your football postings and I've complimented you as such. I hope we can remain, at least, football friends who simply are 180 degrees apart politically.

UMWingedHelmet There has been no hint of personal scandal in his presidency. Everything is good because W doesn't cheat on his wife. Great, he is doing exactly what he swore to do when he got married. Doesn't make him presidential. As far as non-personal scandals that affect all of us--so we may consider them "personal"--there is entering a war under false pretenses, firing the department of justice lawyers, Scooter Libby. I could go on, but I really think it doesn't need to go any further than the war. How many people have died and how much money have we flushed down the toilet? I was no fan of Bill Clinton, but would take him in a heartbeat of the current yahoo. After Clinton's 8 years, the country needed a shower. After 8 years of Bush, it's more like an acid bath.

UMWingedHelmet If nothing else, as Dennis Miller says, he's kept our asses from being blown to smithereens the last 7 years and maybe that's all we should expect from a president. And let's not forget that it was on W's watch that we had our worst terrorist attack in the history of the country and 7 years later the mastermind of the attack has yet to be brought to justice. But not to worry, everything will be fine now that W is officially making birth control a form of abortion. That and keeping gays from getting married will save the USA from Al-Qaeda.

I dont mind GW taking the blame, as long as you admit that it was partially Clinton's fault too (remember, he had less then 9 months in office to scour, gather, and report as much intel on possible terrorist attacks, where Clinton had the previous 8 years before that...and it HAS been proven that they were planning this in the '90's)

Let's not forget that when Clinton fired missiles against terrorist groups in the Middle East he was accused of doing it in order to deflect attention away from the Lewinsky scandal. Let's not forget that it has been proven that the Bush administration ignored the warning about Bin Laden being determined to strike in the US.

If something is wrong with the country, the economy, the world and how the person just found out from the dentist he has a cavity it's gotta be Bush's fault!!

UMWingedHelmet I was thinking the same thing this morning. If something is wrong with the country, the economy, the world and how the person just found out from the dentist he has a cavity it's gotta be Bush's fault!! I'm pretty sure if everything was rosy, W would be breaking his arm patting himself on the back, so, yeah, he can take plenty of the blame. You wanna be the man, you take everything that comes with it.
