Everybody at Rivals was freaking out - and rightfully so, that's a dick move to do with that headline. He's not enrolling early, he's not decommitting, he's just changing high schools. He's going to Hargrave Military Academy for his senior year (Vidal Hazelton, USC WR, did the same thing a couple years ago).

-Newsome arrived late at the camp and never seemed to get on track completely. He did have some nice throws, especially on three-step drops when he could unleash his arm strength. But when it came to making good five and seven-step drops, reading progressions and completing intermediate and longer passes, he wasn't as effective. There wasn't another player put together like Newsome, though. He's one of the most impressive looking players from a physical standpoint. A rock solid, 6-3, 217 pounds, he's about as good looking of a player from the eyeball standpoint in the nation. Newsome also revealed to Rivals.com exclusively he will be leaving Western Branch and attend Hargrave Military Academy next fall. Newsome said the move will be done to help him stay on track academically and advance as a quarterback prospect. He definitely will get top-notch coaching at Hargrave. As for Winston, Michigan is still his #1 right now. He'll most likely be coming to AA only on an official during the season. RR and staff (Coach Hopson) are recruiting him hard. This one looks like it might go on fo awhile. We'll see though.

Oh and BTW this is a great move for Newsome. Just search Hargrove MA and look at all the NFLers that they have. Impressive. This can only help KN coming to UM next year.

ORIGINAL: WOLVERINE4EVER64 thats good to hear.... does anyone have any new news on Darius Winston ???? is michigan still in the driver seat ???? Yes. It's pretty telling that even when the Clemson site interviewed him, he made it clear Michigan was #1 right now. The second Texas officially offers him, though...hold onto your seats.

After clicking on that link and looking at their football results from last year, they weren't pretty. They went 3-6 if I'm correct, but I'm guessing Newsome knows more about that program and how it is going to help him in the long run.

If you follow the link to the athletic dept. and visit the Post-Grad football section (which is what KN will be playing) you will find they went 5-3-1 against college teams. There is also the list of their current NFL players including Tory Holt, Brandon Flowers and Keon Lattimore.

Believe it or not, I hope you guys get Newsome. I think it will add some fun to the rivalry. Unfortunately, internet chatter abounds about this one not sticking. Too many home teamers in his ear. This one won't be over until he signs on the dotted line.

The head coach at Hargrave makes sure kids stick to their commitments; that's one of the main purposes of being there. If he's still a Michigan commit by the time he gets to Hargrave, he'll stick.

More on Newsome: Michigan star QB recruit wavering on commitment? Kevin Newsome, Michigan's dual-threat QB commit who could be the offensive centerpiece Rich Rodriguez has been waiting for, has decided to transfer. OAS_AD('ArticleFlex_1'); Transfer high schools, that is.Newsome will transfer from Western Branch High School and play his senior year at Hargrave Military Academy. But Michigan fans breathing a sigh of relief shouldn't feel 100% safe yet, according to Newsome's former high school coach.Former Western Branch coach Lew Johnston, a close family friend to the Newsome, said Rivals.com's fourth-ranked dual-threat QB of the 2009 class might not be as firm in his commitment to the Wolverines as some may think."I thought when he picked Michigan, he jumped the gun a little bit, and I was disappointed," Johnston told the Virginian-Pilot. "I told him that."

All we have to go on is what the kid says today. Today, he's going to Michigan. It doesn't mean anything at this point, but that is where he's going. If he changes his mind in a year, he won't be the first kid and surely won't be the last.
Don't mail it in, don't pack it in, give it everything you've got. Grind it out, I don't care what kind of game you have, somehow try and find a way to get it done ... That's part of my attitude and belief, that you

If he signs, great. If he doesn't, no big deal. Something tells me that RR won't have a lot of problems finding QB's to run his offense.

Those college teams include the Naval Acadamy's JV team and also Tennessee's JV team. Not to mention that there are some pretty good players that Newsome will be going up against on a regular basis in practice that are also attending Hargrave.
