I'm not a Colts fan, by any stretch of the imagination, but it was nice to see Hart run well last night.  I hope he does well in the league, just to prove all of the people wrong who said that he was too small and too slow to make it.

How about Colt Brennan?  He had a good game.

on the redskins message boards they are saying Jason Campbell better play well or Colt is coming for his spot, lol.

i dont think its that serious but i was impressed with Brennan last night. we only spent a 7th round pick on him so anything he contributes is a plus.

Good job against tomorrow's insurance adjusters and mortgage bankers.

If he's still in the league in November, he's going to get buried.
They said the same things about Maurice Jones-Drew and he turned out to be a pretty good back. Mike may have a really big mouth but he'll find a way to get touches sooner or later.

the worst thing he did was before the Rose Bowl against USC......

"Mike Hart, Running Back, and i'm coming back for my senior year to beat Ohio State."........

GROAN.........I knew right then we'd lose to blOwSU again.....

So, he has the exact right attitude, but gets punished for saying it?  That quote right there shows me the true competitor Mike Hart is.  I think many people are so quick to jump on the politically correct bandwagon and take any phrase of confidence as cockiness and poor sportsmanship.

Mike Hart is and will forever be a legend at Michigan.  He deserves to be remembered as nothing less.

you just have to pick your spots........i loved Hart, he was the man, but his bulletin board quotes didn't always help the situations.......that's all i'm saying.

MJD is fast and a lot more physical than Hart. Aside from being small, they don't have much in common.

That's absurd. Jason Campbell is going to be a damn good QB in the league. He has poise, skills and is a natural leader under center. Colt Brennan has terrible mechanics and throws a poor ball. Against a team that is gameplanning to stop him and playing their top athletes, he'd get eaten up like the Sugar Bowl all over again. I agree with you on several issues, but not this one.  Hart is a very good back and is going to be extremely productive in the NFL.  The guy just knows how to find the holes and run with the football.  The instincts he has cannot be taught and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The division between the Rich Rod supporters and the Rich Rod bashers/Carr supporters is amazing and has turned this place upside down.

I have no idea how productive he will be in the NFL but there is certainly a place for a RB that doesn't fumble, can effectively pass block, can catch the screen and can get tough yards.  I think any team in the NFL would love to have a guy like that.

He will never be an every down back, but he will probably make a very very good 3rd down back and backup. The dude is tough, can block well. He is a football player.

alot of people think that he will make the team if he remains consistent. he looked really good last night and word is he's been doing good in practice. im thinking he might take rock cartwrights spot as the 3rd string RB. if not there i think they might stick him on special teams at least.

Well, first it wouldn't be a pleasant surprise for me.

But second, the NFL is a different game. It's faster and stronger. Linebackers are faster than Mike Hart. Speed matters in the league. You don't have to be blazing fast, but

To compare, Jerod Mayo is 6-1, 242 and runs a 4.53. Hart is 5-9, 200 and only runs a 4.52. He had problems staying healthy at Michigan and will get pounded in the league by guys like that. He won't be extremely productive. No way. He may be able to stay in the league as a third down back because he can block, and get a tough yard or two, but he has to improve his pass catching skills or he's going nowhere.

I'm not sure what Emmitt Smith's 40 time was, but he surely was not the fastest guy in the league.  He was great at finding the hole, not turning it over and catching balls out of the backfield.  Now, I'm not comparing Smith to Hart, but speed is not everything in the NFL.

Also, to say that Hart has to improve his pass catching skills is crazy.  One of his greatest strengths is his pass catching skills.

Unfortunately, Hart's mouth tarnished his accomplishments a bit for me.  His enthusiasm, leadership and determination made him one of my favorite Wolverines at one point.  His cumulative comments caused him to drop a tier in my opinion.  I will always root for him to succeed, however.

Receiving is absolutely not one of his greatest strengths. He's average at best.

I love how you think you're such a great evaluator of NFL talent. Jason Campbell not panning out? "Absurd".  Mike Hart becoming a productive back in the league? "Going nowhere".  Other normal people leave it at "I don't know how productive he'll be, but I think..."  Your predictions will be right on the money every time I presume.

You've probably never spoken at length with Mike Hart and have no idea what kind of person he is. "His mouth" is just part of the game. In reality, he's one of the most respectful and genuine individuals I've ever met.

You're right about a lot of things in this statement - Hart isn't fast, and he will take some hits in the NFL.  However, I think that Hart has landed on a team that will employ him in situations where he doesn't necessarily need to be fast.  What I mean is that with Addai and Rhodes, you get two backs who like to come right at you.  Addai's got this weird loping style, and he looks to use his speed to get through into the LB levels.  Rhodes just wants to lower his shoulder and plow.  One of the Colt's biggest plays with Edge was that zone-stretch that allowed the RB to either get out of bounds, or cutback - which is a perfect play for Hart to run.  It takes patience to stay behind your blockers and wait for that cut-back lane to develop, which is exactly what Hart's bread and butter was at UM.  He doesn't need to be fast, he needs to be patient in that type of situation.  Also - say what you will about his pass-catching skills - they're much, much better than Kenton Keith's...

Will Hart be an HOF every-down back?  Probably not.  But I think he's got more of a chance to be a regular contributer on the Colts than you're giving him credit for, if only because the system in which he's going to be used is conducive to his skill set.  I get that you're a Patriots fan, but objectively, there were very few teams that Hart could be productive on - and the Colts are one of them.

I too am very anit-Colts especially being a Ravens fan.  Baltimore fans as a whole are still very bitter about the Colts suddenly leaving Baltimore in the middle of the night.  Anyway, I do still cheer for any Michigan player no matter what team they are playing for in the pros.  I hope Mike Hart does well in his pro career just as he did at Michigan.
Um, where exactly did the Ravens come from???  I can't believe fans of the Ravens would still be bitter over the whole Colts thing, when Baltimore basically did the same thing to Cleveland to get the Ravens...

At least Baltimore got an established team instead of having to build one from scratch.  Since the Browns have come back, this is the first time going into a season that there is true optimism about this team having a successful season.  That's not a whole lot of optimism over the past 8 years of frustrations...

people on the skins board were joking. everyone knows campbell is the future of this team. once again i was saying brennan was better than we expected. he wont even be our 2nd stringer and no one expects him to take over campbells spot.

Nice article on Hart.  His mouth, swagger, and attitude makes him what he is.  He's had to rely on that his whole life.  Being called too small, too slow, too whatever else it may be, would get old.  You have to find some way to overcome it.  I think this is way.  Call him this call him that, but more times than not; he's going to get the job done.
