(By the way, we get it: You're THE Ohio State University. Nice sweater vests.) Classic line.... Go Blue!!

Does anyone know where THE OSU started? I never heard it until a few years ago and I absolutely hate it. I refuse to say it. Is there another Ohio State out there we don't know about? Are they schizophrenic? What is this all about?

Why are the Bucks #4 most hated?? Its not cause they win all the time..... Its not cause of their HC ( Tressel seems like a nice guy) Its cause 75% of their fan base are jerks and its not just Michigan fans saying it anymore lol

Congrats on winning the Capital One Bowl in a season in which everything was set up for Michigan to go to the BCS championship. Good thing for the Wolverines the opponent in Orlando was from the Southeastern Conference and not the Southern Conference.

ORIGINAL: Wolverine4Life Does anyone know where THE OSU started? I never heard it until a few years ago and I absolutely hate it. I refuse to say it. Is there another Ohio State out there we don't know about? Are they schizophrenic? What is this all about? When tOSU was first founded in 1870, it was called Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College. In 1878, they wanted to change the name to Ohio State University, but Ohio University was already established. They named themselves The Ohio State University, as a way to separate themselves from OU. While looking for this, I ran across this gem in the Urban Dictionary under the listing of Ohio State Buckeyes: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ohio+State+Buckeyes&defid=1154217
See you in another life, brother.

OSU, Lakers, Boston teams, Yankees....you think middling teams like the Indians, Purdue and the Supersonics would ever make this list?

BlueSteel ... Wow, I didn't know that stuff. I thought the name was TUOS ... that it didn't stand for anything ... that the name was just TUOS .... maybe an old Indian name or something.

ORIGINAL: jeff4bucks OSU, Lakers, Boston teams, Yankees....you think middling teams like the Indians, Purdue and the Supersonics would ever make this list? Ah yes. But there is a difference. People love to hate the Lakers and Yankees because they are/were perennial champions, just like people hated the Cowboys and the Raiders in the 70's. When you have consistently racked up championships, people are going to hate you. Buuuut...that doesn't quite explain OSU as you're not exactly racking up championships and being mentioned in the same breath as the Yankees, Patriots, or Lakers is comedic. Me thinks you made the list for other reasons. (Hint: Your fan base might be the biggest clue.)

In fact , it's pronounced "O-hi-O" which is Algonquin for "the good land." ORIGINAL: TK23Blue (Hint: Your fan base might be the biggest clue.) Do ya think? [sm=toothysmile.gif]

I keep hearing this fan base argument for why everyone hates Ohio State, yet when I go to away OSU games I always hear, "I hope you guys beat Michigan." Since my family and I are such asshole Buckeye fans, I would think that one of these trips I would hear the opposite. My experience of people hating on OSU the past few years is because many think they cruise through an easy conference schedule and get an undeserved high ranking because of it. It is hard to argue against this when the 2nd best team in the conference loses at home to a I-AA team.

What they say to your face and what they say behind your backs are two entirely different things.
