1979- UM 27 Indiana 21

Michigan was tied with Indiana 21-21 in the waning seconds of the 1979 Homecoming game.  The Wolverines had the ball but had no timeouts left with time running out.  Michigan completed a pass to the middle of the field and it appeared that time would expire, but the Wolverine receiver alertly 'fumbled' the ball out of bounds to stop the clock.  With 8 seconds left Wolverine QB John Wangler dropped back and hit Wide Receiver Anthony Carter on a perfect pass up the middle.  Carter dodged 3 would-be Indiana tacklers to score the touchdown winning the game for Michigan as time expired.  Indiana coach Lee Corso fumed that the play should have never happened since the Wolverine intentionally fumbled.  But the play that was described by Bob Ufer as the most exciting play in the hundred year history of Michigan football stood.
