- DVD Review: Rivalries- The History of Michigan vs OSU

This DVD covers the period from 1897 to 2003.  It covers both teams equally.  There are interviews with Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Archie Griffin, Chris Perry, Chris Speilman, Dan Dierdorf, Lloyd Carr, Earle Bruce and a number of other participants from the rivalry.

The video and sound quality is good and there a numbers of bonus features included on the DVD.  The main program is narrated by Pat Summerall and runs 1 hour and 4 minutes.  The dvd provides a brief history of the rivalry but hard core fans will be hard pressed to find anything they haven't seen somewhere else before.  I did learn more about the history of Ohio State than I knew before.  Like how many times losses to Michigan ran an OSU coach out of town.

I'd love to see UM Alum Ken Burns tackle a project like this.  There is enough material to go on for hours about this great rivalry.  Until then this DVD is good appetizer that will leave both Michigan and Ohio State fans yearning for more...
