12/31/03-
Rose Bowl UM/USC Prediction
[Old/Adv/Featured2.htm]
|
Michigan |
USC |
|
Offense |
|
USC has the hype averaging 42 points a game but Michigan is no
slouch either averaging 37. Michigan has faced better
competition than USC and will have some surprises for USC.
Look for the UM offensive line to dominate allowing Chris Perry
and John Navarre to operate...
Advantage- Even |
|
Defense |
|
The one area where Michigan has the clear
advantage. Look for Michigan to turn in another
performance similarl to the Purdue and OSU game.
Advantage- Michigan |
|
Special Teams |
|
The area that USC has the largest advantage.
Michigan isn't playing for the National Championship because of
special teams failures against Oregon and Iowa. Steve
Breaston is an amazing player but look for USC to keep the ball
away from his. USC has a great punting game and Michigan
will be in trouble if this becomes a game of field position.
Advantage-
USC |
|
Intangibles |
|
All USC has to do is win to get a share of the
national championship. Of course they have to play the
game and win which many in the media seem to have forgotten.
Michigan has trouble on road and on the West coast but the team
has much to prove...
Advantage- Even |
|
Prediction |
|
Look for the Michigan defense to put the clamps on the high
powered USC offense. Expect Michigan to keep the USC
offense off the field by unleashing a potent mix of the run and
pass (Chris Perry rolls!!!) |
|
Michigan 28 USC 21 |
